' Definitely revolting': Euclid chief says investigation underway into violent weekend

EUCLID, Ohio-- Euclid authorities are examining two violent occurrences that occurred this weekend, a lethal pursuit involving alleged armed carjackers, and a shooting spree that left four people shot.

" It seems the violence is increasing," stated Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer. "It's absolutely not getting better."

Early Saturday early morning, authorities reacted to a shooting at an after-hours place on St. Clair Avenue. At least 4 individuals were shot. Officers supplied emergency treatment to many of the victims.

No arrests have been made and the chief added that a number of the witnesses and some of the victims are not cooperative.

" We need people to work together with us," the chief said. "We want to get justice for these victims. We require cooperation."

And a day later on, Euclid officers attempted stopping a taken automobile, an automobile taken from 2 female victims at weapon point in Cleveland. The suspects declined to stop, and led police on a high speed chase. The chase ended when the suspects crashed into another automobile, killing a 44-year-old female.

After the crash the suspects left. Authorities had the ability to detain two suspects, a 17-year-old male, and an 18-year-old woman, but are still searching for a third suspect.

" I am definitely devastated by the truth we have an innocent 3rd party that was killed due strictly to the habits of these bad guys," the chief said. "It's absolutely revolting."

Cleveland Councilman Mike Polensek agrees, calling the lethal crash a senseless act of violence.

" I want justice," Polensek said. "I want justice for the victim. I desire justice for her family and enjoyed ones. My inmost compassion for the victim, Michelle Wall, who was simply setting about her life, and for her household and enjoyed ones. I want these carjackers prosecuted to the max level of the law, and they might be facing automobile homicide."

Polensek said edge communities have seen a rash of chases that start outside the city winding up in Cleveland with onlookers hurt or killed.

" I understand it was a violent carjacking that took place a day or two in the past in the city of Cleveland that led Euclid authorities to recognize this lorry on Sunday," Polensek said. "We jointly require to get a deal with on these cars and truck thefts, carjacking and police chases after, specifically if they are moving from outside Cleveland into our city limits."

Euclid cops are asking anyone with details on either incident to call investigators as quickly as possible.
