' Felt very safe': Police boost presence for eclipse


EUCLID, Ohio (BNN) - - Officers all over the region spent more than a year preparation for Monday's solar eclipse.

" We weren't sure what to expect," stated Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer. "We had every readily available officer working."

In Euclid, officers were in golf carts, cruisers and on foot monitoring the crowds and making sure everyone was safe. Dozens collected at Sims Park and the football stadium at the high school to view.

" We generated additional folks," Meyer said. "We just kinda informed everyone, ‘‘ Make yourself visible and make certain everyone is safe and having fun.'".

Ken Kiesel, of Columbus, who drove to Euclid to view the eclipse, stated he was not dissatisfied.

" There was great security," Kiesel said. "Even though there was a great deal of individuals it felt really safe.".

Kamalika Stockton, of Eastlake, agreed.

" It felt beautiful and really safe," Stockton stated. "It was truly emotional to see everybody come together - - a gorgeous experience.".

Authorities in numerous departments including Cleveland, Avon and Sandusky likewise stated they had no major events.
