' Nothing could ever compare': FOX 8 anchors respond to total solar eclipse

CLEVELAND (BNN)-- Northeast Ohioans were in awe Monday afternoon as the overall solar eclipse went over the state for about 3 minutes and 50 seconds. Even BNN Anchors Tracy McCool and Lou Maglio couldn't keep in their cheers when witnessing totality..

McCool and Maglio, joined by Chris Hartenstein from the NASA Glenn Research Center, enjoyed as the skies began to get dark at about 3:11 p.m. Just a couple of minutes later, totality hit.

" There it is, take a look at that, Chris. Wow!" Maglio stated as the audience began to cheer.

" It's a truly spooky phenomenon and it's so cool," Hartenstein, who saw another solar eclipse in 2017 in Missouri, told the anchors.

When the solar eclipse lastly struck totality, McCool gasped and said, "Oh my gosh! Listen to the crowd, it's so dark!".

" I am caring hearing all these people, thousands and countless people witnessing something they've never seen before, and will never see once again. Here it is!" Maglio stated in enjoyment.

According to Hartenstein, throughout totality, temperatures cool because the moon is obstructing the sun, and the loss of light can be seen all around the earth.

Look! Images, video from totality in Cleveland.

A 360-degree sundown," he said. You can see it radiant, look at that ring. You can see the environment of the sun shining across.".

" Woo this is so incredible," McCool said. "I have goosebumps right now.".

McCool, Maglio and the whole crowd cheered their hearts out when the last of the eclipse's Baily's beads, the diamond ring, appeared.

According to Hartenstein, Baily's beads are the last twinkles of sunlight shining through the craters on the very edge of the moon. The last of those becomes what is known as the diamond ring.

Northeast Ohio unwind after completely excellent show.

We've been reporting on this for so many months now and I just did not know how I would react, but I'm feeling just the method everyone else is reacting. A lovely, stunning thing," Maglio said.

" Nothing could ever compare to this. This is just astounding.".
