A devastating solo-vehicle accident in Stockton has left a one-year-old and a six-year-old in critical condition. The incident occurred late Thursday evening, prompting an immediate response from local emergency services.
First responders arrived at the scene in the 800 block of East Cherry Street shortly before 11:00 p.m. Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle left the roadway and struck a fixed object for reasons that remain under investigation.
Paramedics found the adult driver and both children inside the damaged vehicle. The two young passengers were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed that the the youngest victim remains in a critical condition, while the older child is also fighting for recovery in intensive care.
The Stockion Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating factors that may have contributed to the crash, including possible speed or impairment. Investigators are working to determine the relationship between the adult driver and the children, as well as the location the group was traveling from.
