2 males plead guilty for looting shops throughout December blizzard

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - - 2 Buffalo males pleaded guilty Tuesday for robbery numerous Amherst stores throughout the December blizzard, the Erie County District Attorney's Workplace revealed.

Quinton Jones, 37, and Dijon Joyner, 31, were charged with one count of third-degree burglary.

Officials state at approximately 6:57 p.m. on Dec. 24, Joyner and Jones, in addition to two other unknown individuals, got in and unlawfully stayed inside a closed shop on the 3500 block of Main Street in Amherst. They got entry to the window by breaking a window with a rock prior to stealing roughly $20,000 in money as well as roughly $25,000 in product. Jones was later found in ownership of some of the stolen product.

At approximately 6:10 p.m. the following day, Jones and Joyner once again went into and unlawfully remained inside a closed organization, this time a pizzeria, on the 3600 block of Main Street, according to officials. They used a rock to break a window and gain entry to the structure, where they took roughly $800 in food products and about $33 in modification from sales register.

" These accuseds robbed shops while our cops and very first responders were working to save lives throughout a dreadful snow storm. I am taking these looting cases seriously as these were not criminal activities of desperation, however criminal activities of opportunity to burglarize unoccupied shops during a blizzard," stated Erie County DA John Flynn.

Jones and Joyner each face an optimum of seven years in jail when they are sentenced July 10, and both defendants were launched under guidance.
