2024 Primary Election: Live updates, what to understand on Super Tuesday in San Diego County


SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) - - Super Tuesday is here and San Diegans that have not voted yet are making the effort to cast their vote or drop off tallies before the due date.

Here's what you need to understand for the 2024 Presidential Primary Election.

Super Tuesday (March 5) is underway, when citizens in 16 states and one area cast their tallies in the 2024 presidential primaries, and citizens here in San Diego County have up until 8 p.m. to select their preferred candidates.

As soon as voting ends, the counting will start by the Registrar's workplace. Election night outcomes will start to come in shortly after 8 p.m.

Notably, this year is a governmental election year so the stakes are higher. This main will choose who squares off in the 2024 presidential election in November.

The Associated Press reports no one will become the presumptive nominee after Tuesday's primaries, but President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are expected to get close.

Voting is open in San Diego County from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. You must be in line at a vote center or at an official ballot drop box by 8 p.m

. There are 217 vote centers and 146 official tally drop boxes around the county.

The county communications workplace on Monday reported the Santee-Lakeside Elks Lodge is no longer acting as a vote center. Voters because location will instead be directed to the 2 nearby vote centers - - Lakeside Community Center and Willowbrook Golf Course.

You can check out any vote center to conditionally sign up and vote provisionally through March 5 if you're not registered to vote and want to participate in the election.

All eyes are on California's race for Senate to succeed the late Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who died last fall. 2 front runners have actually emerged-- Congressman Adam Schiff and former Padre Steve Garvey.
