SAN DIEGO (Border Report) - - Three men were jailed Thursday in connection with the March disappearance of an engineer and his assistant, whom prosecutors state were eliminated.
Alonso Guerrero Chávez and Rubén Rojas were surveying a plot of land for a city job when they vanished.
" Right now, we have three people in custody," Baja California Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez said. "The engineer and his assistant were doing work in a high-crime area utilizing a drone and other equipment, the people in custody were utilizing drugs nearby."
Andrade Ramírez stated the suspects thought the engineer and his assistant were "spying on them."
" Since they were only two, they were overwhelmed by the suspects and held versus their will, then they were killed with the foes taking their mobile phones and equipment."
Andrade Ramírez said her officer is still attempting to get the suspects to provide them with more information consisting of the location of the bodies, which have not been discovered.
" We are completing the examination," she stated. "The suspects have actually offered us various accounts regarding what happened as we continue the look for the missing guys."

Guerrero Chávez and his assistant were working for the city of Tijuana.
Their households have been actively looking for them since they vanished and have lobbied the city and the cops to do more to discover them.
