This morning, residents of Long Beach experienced a jolt as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled the area, originating from the Santa Monica Mountains. Initially reported as a stronger 5.1, the quake was swiftly downgraded, but that did little to quell the nerves of those who felt the tremors.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake struck just north of Malibu at approximately 7:30 a.m. Here are the key details:
