A minimum of 6 dead, 9 injured across state in holiday weekend violence




Numerous cops reports over the long weekend included numerous shootings that left a minimum of six dead and nine hurt in Arkansas.

On May 29, the LRPD reacted to a shooting in a downtown parking desk where officers found one individual suffering from a gunshot wound. Through the night on May 29, the LRPD responded to a shooting at 9600 W. 36th St. where one guy died from gunshot wounds.

In North Little Rock, police responded to a shooting on May 29 around 7 p.m. Two individuals were discovered with gunshot injuries, and they are both in stable condition. The shooting took place in the 5400 block of Alpha Street.

The Arkansas State Police reported 3 separate shootings across the state over the weekend. The first on May 27 included a married couple that is believed to be a homicide/suicide. The victims were determined as David W. Lewis, 55, and Kesha L. Lewis, 49, and they were found at 359 Military Road in Rockport. Rockport is north of Malvern.

On May 27, the ASP reported a Stamps shooting that left one teen dead and one teen injured. Lafayette County cops reacted to a shooting around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday.

A 3rd shooting on May 27 in Marianna left one dead and 4 injured, the ASP reported. The shooting happened in the parking area of an O'Reilly Auto Parts shop. Olanda Bender, 37, of Jonesboro was noticable dead at a nearby healthcare facility. Three victims were left in vital condition; Tracy Ewans, 36; Markel Ellis, 27, and Jaquasia Davis, 20. One victim, Jerome Smith, 31, was airlifted to a medical facility in Memphis and his condition is unknown. Marianna has to do with 60 miles southwest of Memphis.
