Active late Monday with heavy rain, extreme storm threat

Another round of storms is likely ahead of a cold front for later Monday and into extremely early Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center has most of Central Indiana under a level two (of 5) small threat for extreme weather with this. All modes of serious weather condition are possible however it's heavy rain and destructive winds being the primary threats. Highs on Monday will vary depending on where the front places itself for the day. They will range from the upper-50s to the upper-60s/ near 70 °

. Timing for this seems late Monday afternoon and after. Flooding will also be a threat, particularly in bad drainage and low-lying locations. Temperatures PLUMMET with snow chances midweek

As we open April on an active note, the middle of the week requires winter's return. Hope you didn't put the much heavier coats away for the season yet! After a cold front comes through here early Tuesday, the highs near 60 ° early will result in late-day temperature levels into the 40s. Numbers like that will be HIGHS for Wednesday and Thursday. Lots of areas may not even get out of the upper-30s.

With how rapidly the cold air enters following the frontal passage, wrap-around wetness could cause rain blending or turning over to snow showers late Tuesday into early Wednesday. After that, we'll begin to dry and temperatures will begin to rebound for the latter portion of the work week and into next weekend.
