" We definitely failed," said Hernandez, who scored 23 objectives and had 21 helps as Arlington High School started the season with a 23-game unbeaten streak prior to losing in the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
" It does not feel great with the manner in which we ended because I understand our team was talented and we could have gone further and who understands, possibly we might have won a champion," he stated.
Headed quickly to California Baptist University to play NCAA Division I males's soccer this fall, the Arlington High senior has turned that feeling into fuel to fire him towards his next chance.
" It harms me bad however that's going to provide me motivation to do even more at the next level," Hernandez said.
The IE Varsity Boys Soccer Player of the Year, Hernandez was the catalyst as the Lions (22-1-1 overall) increased to No. 1 in the Division 1 coaches poll in January for the first time in the program's history.
" Danny is the complete plan, which is uncommon," Arlington coach Kevin Watson said. "He's unique, a 3.9 general GPA kid and right there with the best gamers I've ever coached.".
Hernandez chased records all season, falling just one short of tying the school record for goals in a single season.
" I was one except getting the goal record (but) with college turning up it makes me feel like I need to prove myself a lot more," he said.
" I'm definitely thrilled for that. I'm preparing today," he pauses. "One objective brief.".
Pushing weight to the clanking and crunching noises of Kanye West in the fitness center is now a larger portion of his everyday regimen.
" I've always been motivated and I've constantly attempted my finest however I think that's what I require-- dipping into the next level and adapting," Hernandez stated.
The 6-foot-1 forward jumps onto a roster that hosted and won the Western Athletic Conference competition in 2022 and advanced to its first NCAA Tournament look.
" He's a good goal-scorer and unsafe from anywhere within 35 backyards however I think his last ball sticks out," CBU head coach Coe Michaelson said. "He integrates fantastic vision with exceptional progressive death and wide or set piece delivery.".
He'll face extreme competitors for an area in the lineup on among the nation's most popular young groups.
" I understand it's only going to make me much better, not just as a gamer but as a person," Hernandez said. "I'm looking forward to it due to the fact that if I wish to dip into a higher level than college then it's going to be more difficult than (CBU).".
Every player imagine an expert career, and CBU's most popular soccer alum Preston Judd recently made his first start for L.A. Galaxy in Major League Soccer, however Hernandez is under no expectations or illusions besides his own.
" Right now, I believe that I'm young and I'm able to play NCAA Division I, it's only going to help me in my future," he said. San Gorgonio head coach Adrian Villalobos, holds up the CIF-SS plaque with his group after the Spartans beat Victor Valley 1-0, during their CIF Southern Section Division 6 boys soccer champion match at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, Ca., February 27, 2023.

It was all over his face simply how much Adrian Villalobos was leaving this season, more than he's ever had in a decade-plus training at San Gorgonio High School.
" We have excellent group chemistry and this is an enjoyable group of guys to coach. It's fun, and we're gifted, so that helps!" Villalobos said.
San Gorgonio's veteran coach held the line and plugged the holes long enough for the Spartans (30-3-1 general) to find their feet and take victories in both the CIF Southern Section Division 6 and CIF State Division V local championship finals.
It's the first time in 16 seasons that Villalobos has actually won 30 games. He currently owns a 195-145-55 record.
