Asian Lantern Festival back at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this summer


CLEVELAND – – The Asian Lantern Festival is returning to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for its seventh year.

The popular nighttime phenomenon, presented by Meijer, kicks off July 5 and continues through August 25, zoo officials validated.

Guests can experience the zoo after dark with lots of displays lighting the way, including a 50-foot pagoda and walk-through tunnels.

There will also be live acrobatic efficiencies every hour and a large choice of culturally-inspired food options.

The walk-through experience will be Thursdays through Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., while a drive-thru experience will also be available on choose nights.

Tickets to the celebration are currently on sale. Zoo members can get tickets in advance for $21 or a four-pack for $63. Non-members can get tickets ahead of time for $24 or a four-pack for $73.

Same-day tickets are $27 at the box workplace up until 9:30 p.m. Drive-thru tickets are $45 per automobile for members and $55 per lorry for non-members.

Kids 2 and under get in for free.

Officials are welcoming guests to take a look at the zoo's latest summer season tourist attractions, Dino Cave and Swan Voyage, which will be open during the festival.

Dino Cove is included with festival admission. Swan Voyage, a possibility to see the lanterns on board swan paddleboats, costs an additional $15.

Visitors can also participate in the brand-new Lantern 5K presented by CrossCountry Mortgage, a race that leads runners through the Asian Lantern Festival on July 23 at 8:30 p.m. Participants will get a tee shirt, medal, refreshments and the possibility to check out the lanterns after the race.
