Fort Worth Extends PPE Donation Program for Local Businesses

The third phase of Fort Worth’s personal protective equipment donation program has been extended.

Local Fort Worth businesses now have until July 31 or until supplies run out to request and pick up free personal protective equipment. The city began offering the supplies gratis in June 2023 and has since expanded which organizations are eligible to receive equipment.

As of July 1, the city’s available equipment included 151 cases plus 372 boxes of disposable surgical masks along with 8 bags full of 33.8-ounce Wish hand sanitizer refills. The equipment will only be donated to businesses with permanent addresses in Fort Worth.

Businesses can apply for the supplies through an online form. The city recommends that pickups be completed as soon as possible due to limited quantities. If all PPE is given out before the deadline is reached, the donation period will end.

Equipment must be picked up at Fort Worth City Hall, 200 Texas St., or the City Hall Annex, 401 W. 13th St.

The first phase of the program was completed in January. The second phase was completed in April and distributed equipment to chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, and schools.

There will be a fourth phase of the PPE Donation Program if there is equipment remaining after the third phase. In the event of a fourth phase, the city will provide more information here.

What do you think?

  • Should PPE donations be extended to businesses outside Fort Worth?
  • Do you believe the donation program should have more phases?
  • Is it fair that only businesses with permanent addresses in Fort Worth receive donations?
