Birmingham restauranteur Raquel Ervin opening new restaurant in Five Points

In a recent Instagram post, regional chef Raquel Ervin announced that SLIDE Café‘‘ s brand-new place in Five Points will commemorate its grand opening this Saturday, December 2. Ervin is best known as the chef behind SMOKE Bistro at The Pizitz Food Hall and former SLIDE Café in Irondale.

Chef Raquel Ervin, who appeared on Food Network's Chopped, is among the Birmingham area's leading restauranteurs. This May, Ervin opened SMOKE Bistro at The Pizitz Food Hall, which serves a variety smoked sandwiches, sides and meats, including her acclaimed mac ‘‘ n cheese.

MOVE Café's origins go back to 2020, when Ervin established Panoptic Catering as a food truck. Later on, it became a brick-and-mortar location in Irondale and Ervin rebranded the dining establishment as SLIDE-- changing the menu to include a range of delicious slider sandwiches. In 2022, SLIDE Café closed in preparation to move downtown.

As Chef Raquel revealed on Instagram, the grand opening of SLIDE 2.0 will happen December 2 at its new Five Points place.
