A massive fire erupted at an apartment complex near the Brownsville border late Tuesday night, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and drawing a swift response from firefighters. Flames tore through multiple units as crews worked tirelessly to contain the blaze.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 11:30 PM, quickly spreading due to strong winds. Residents were seen fleeing the scene as emergency services arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but early reports suggest an electrical malfunction may be to blame.
One resident, Maria Hernandez, described the chaos: "We heard screaming, then saw the flames. Everyone was running. I barely had time to grab my kids." Another, Juan Rodriguez, praised the firefighters: "They risked everything to save our homes."
Authorities are assessing the structural integrity of the remaining buildings while displaced residents receive temporary shelter assistance from local organizations.
