Buffalo family trying to find man who assisted in saving them from burning house

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)-- When a fire broke out at a house in Buffalo, a complete stranger rushed in to assist. Now the family is aiming to thank him.

Around 4 a.m. as the Pangallo family slept, a four-alarm fire broke out on the 2nd flooring of their home on Hartwell Road.

" Someone was tossing something against the house. They were like banging," stated Steven Pangallo. The house is on fire, you got ta get out.'".

Steven's bro, Allan, remains in a wheelchair and he had to act quickly to get him out of the burning home. It was then-- as billowing smoke sneaked its way onto the first flooring-- an unknown guy ran in to assist.

" I had actually got him out of bed, I got him in the wheelchair, I wheeled him out into the living room and he's like, ‘‘ Oh my God, I got ta get a blanket,'" Steven stated. "So he wheeled over to his desk and after that some man simply came running in, yelling, ‘‘ You got ta get out of here, your home is on fire.'".

The male grabbed Allan's wheelchair, got him outside down the front actions, and before they knew it, he was gone.

" He was quite skinny and he simply had like a T-shirt on, a little beard," Steven said. "I do not understand who he was, we've never seen him previously. I don't understand if he was somebody choosing the trash because it was trash night.".

Though much of the things in the house is a loss, the Pangallo family made it out safely thanks to Buffalo's bravest and the man whom Steven calls, "an angel from somewhere.".

" I simply wan na thank the guy, you understand, he assisted us," Steven said. "I wan na know who he is and I wan na just state thank you.".

Damage to the house is estimated to be about $375,000 dollars. It's unclear how the fire began but Steven thinks it might have been electrical. A GoFundMe was produced to assist the Pangallo household return on their feet.
