The city's population increased from 152,374 in the 2010 census to 157,136 in the 2020 census. Downtown Corona is roughly 95 miles (177 kilometres) north-northwest of San Diego and 48 miles (77 km) southeast of Downtown Los Angeles.
Corona, a city in Southern California's Inland Empire, is referred to as the "Circle City" because Grand Boulevard is designed in a 3 mi (4.8 km) circle. It is one of the Inland Empire's most populous cities, but it also has a sizable industrial area on the northern part, where the corporate offices of firms like the Saleen supercar company and the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation are located.

East of Orange County, in western Riverside County, is where you'll find Corona.
The city has a total area of 38.9 square miles (101 km2), of which 38.8 square miles (100 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2), or 0.27%, is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
Corona has a moderate Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: CSa), which features scorching summers and mild to cool winters. In Southern California as a whole, the winter and early spring are when it rains the most.
The typical high temperature throughout the winter is in the mid to upper 60s, making for nice days. However, the winter lows are cooler than in other parts of Southern California, with frequent frost and frigid mornings. Within city limits, snowfall is uncommon. There will occasionally be snow flurries, often once every other year, but it very infrequently snows enough to accumulate. Every winter, a light covering of snow falls on the adjacent Santa Ana Mountains.
With daytime highs in the mid to upper 70s and overnight lows in the upper 40s, springtime weather is comfortable. Early in the season, spring showers are frequent, but by late May, they are uncommon.
Highs in the summertime are sweltering, typically in the low to mid 90s. Corona's daily highs during the warmer months can reach 100 °F (38 °C). Corona experiences frequent cloudy conditions known as "May Gray" and "June Gloom" in the early summer. The North American Monsoon, which brings higher humidity and infrequent thunderstorms to the summer, typically occurs between July and September.
Warm days and dramatically cooler evenings characterize autumn, although the Santa Ana winds that blow in twice or three times a year from October to December can make it windy.
Establishment
Corona, which is located at the top of the Santa Ana River Canyon, an important pass through the Santa Ana Mountains, was established in 1886 at the height of Southern California's citrus boom. The "Lemon Capital of the World" used to be Corona. The former contribution of the lemon to the local economy is displayed in the museum there. Due to Grand Blvd.'s round shape and the circular shape of a crown, the city's name in Spanish translates to "crown." Corona is known as "The Circle City" because of its unusual street design, which features a regular grid enclosed by the circular Grand Boulevard, which has a radius of 2.75 miles (4.43 kilometers). Hiram Clay Kellogg, an Anaheim-based civil engineer who had a significant impact on the early growth of Orange County, created the street plan.
South Riverside Land and Water Company created Corona as a community. Former governor of Iowa Samuel Merrill, R.B. Taylor, George L. Joy, A.S. Garretson, and Adolph Rimpau were among the original members of the business when it was formed in 1886. Originally a group of citrus farmers, it acquired the Bernardo Yorba Rancho La Sierra holdings, granted the Rancho Temescal grant, and established the South Riverside colony. They also acquired the water rights to Lee Lake, Temescal Creek, and its tributaries. To get the water to the colony, dams and pipelines were constructed. To provide water for the new community, the Temescal Water Company was founded in 1889. The Temescal Valley's water-bearing lands were all purchased by this business, which then started drilling artesian wells.
The community, which was once a part of San Bernardino County, was first served by a post office under the name "South Riverside" on May 27 or August 11, 1887, with Charles H. Cornell serving as the first postmaster. South Riversie joined the newly formed Riverside County in 1893. Due to its elongated Grand Boulevard, where three international car races were staged in 1913, 1914, and 1916, the city was dubbed "Corona" in 1896.
