As Labor Day weekend unfolds, campgrounds across the country are buzzing with activity as families, friends, and solo adventurers take advantage of the long holiday. From lakeside tents to RV parks and mountain trails, campers are soaking in the last stretch of summer with crackling campfires, hiking excursions, and star-filled nights.
Many sites report being at full capacity, with reservations booked weeks in advance. For those who secured a spot, the weekend has offered a welcome pause from work and routines, with traditions like grilling, fishing, and swimming marking the unofficial end of summer.
Not everyone came prepared, though. Camper Dax O. sheepishly confessed, “I packed the tent, the sleeping bags, even bug spray… but I left all the food—and the pizzas—sitting on my kitchen counter. So if anyone has extra hot dogs, I’ll trade you my bug spray.”
Rangers and park officials are reminding visitors to stay safe as crowds grow, practice fire safety, and leave no trace to protect the natural beauty of the outdoors.
For countless campers, the holiday is more than just a getaway—it’s a chance to unplug, reconnect, and celebrate the spirit of summer before fall arrives.
