In an inspiring display of talent and teamwork, all five seniors from Northwest Rankin High School have officially signed to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level on National Signing Day. This remarkable achievement took place in the school library, where the players were surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and teammates, celebrating their hard-earned success.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that every member of the Cougar senior class has signed to play at the collegiate level, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaching staff. Brooke Smith expressed pride in the program, stating, “It just shows what this school is about. It’s great to be a part of it.”
Grace Wallis highlighted the significance of their collective success, saying, “It just shows how hard we work at practice, and we’re just all so close.” The bond formed over years of playing together has played a crucial role in their achievements.
Carlee Tubbs, who is set to join Southern Miss, noted, “I just knew when I got to campus that it was where I wanted to be.” Tubbs will be joining fellow Cougars Jolie Hays and Chloe Miller, adding to the growing legacy of Northwest Rankin athletes at the university.
Meanwhile, Grace Wallis chose Mississippi College, not only for its strong softball program but also for its exceptional medical program, aligning with her aspiration to become a doctor. "It just felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus," she shared.
Head coach Mike Armstrong praised each senior's growth and potential. He emphasized the importance of their journey thus far and the expectations for their future seasons. “It feels good to know all the hard work I’ve put in has paid off,” Smith reflected, showcasing the emotional weight of the day.
The Cougars are set to kick off their 2025 season on February 13, aiming for a three-peat championship as they face North Pike. With such a talented roster, fans are eager to see how these committed players will contribute to the team's success.
