On a fateful evening at approximately 8:25 p.m., emergency responders were called to the 3400 block of Tom Gill Road, just north of 3 Mile Line in Peñitas. There, they discovered an unresponsive woman, later identified as Maria Cirlos.

Witnesses at the scene reported that they had been performing CPR on Cirlos until medical personnel arrived. Sadly, despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
