Corona commemorates Cinco de Mayo with festival at park

Mariachi music played and Aztec dancers synchronized with the beating of drums as observers clapped to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

It may have been one day late, however the city of Corona and the Cinco de Mayo Committee hosted their 49th annual celebration Saturday, May 6, at City Park.

The occasion, which likewise included lowriders, local dancers and singers, raised money for scholarships the committee awards to Latino high school senior citizens heading to college.

" We're celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Saturday so more can come together and enjoy, however we likewise utilize it to raise money for scholarships as a not-for-profit organization," event organizer Armando Salazar Jr. stated before the occasion. "We want to be able to provide to those heading to college financing that otherwise is hard to get."
