Clark County is introducing a project Thursday to raise public awareness about sleeping risks for infants.
Each year about 3,500 babies in the U.S. die suddenly and all of a sudden while sleeping. The majority of these deaths are because of unexpected infant death syndrome or unintentional deaths due to suffocation or strangulation.
" It is difficult to overstate the significance of safe sleep practices when it concerns newborns," said Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II. "Our hope is that this campaign will assist parents make informed decisions about their baby's sleep environment.".
The Safe Sleep campaign will consist of public service announcements, academic materials, and resources for moms and dads in Clark County. The county has actually likewise partnered with regional businesses and organizations to spread out awareness about safe sleep practices through occasions and activities throughout the neighborhood.
