On November 19, 2024, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) took a monumental step toward the future by breaking ground on its new $1.6 billion Terminal F. This 15-gate terminal, spanning 400,000 square feet, aims to accommodate the explosive growth in North Texas and redefine the travel experience for millions.
The new terminal is not just a building; it's a response to the rapid growth of the DFW Metroplex. DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue emphasized the importance of staying ahead of this growth, stating:
“It’s a reflection of growth in the region. More importantly, we have to be ahead of the growth.”
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker echoed this sentiment, calling Terminal F a transformational milestone for the airport and the region. She stated:
“As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, we are excited to prepare for the future with DFW Airport, further connecting the DFW Metroplex with the world.”
Terminal F will initially rely on Terminal E for check-in, security, and baggage claim facilities. Travelers will use the Skylink system to access Terminal F. This innovative approach is designed to maximize efficiency while providing room for future expansions.
The DFW Airport is also focusing on sustainability, with plans for a new electrical plant powered by 100% renewable resources, among other capital improvement projects. This commitment to eco-friendly practices is a crucial aspect of the airport's modernization efforts.
As construction progresses, DFW Airport's leadership is optimistic about the future. With ongoing discussions with air carriers for space within Terminal F, the airport is poised to welcome even more travelers. According to Donohue:
“We’re really building two terminals.”
DFW Airport is at the heart of a rapidly evolving North Texas region, generating $38 billion in payroll and $5 billion in taxes. The addition of Terminal F will not only enhance the airport’s capacity but also create job opportunities and stimulate local businesses.
As we look toward the grand opening in 2027, the excitement surrounding Terminal F continues to grow. Share your thoughts and join the conversation about the future of travel in North Texas!
