Did your license end throughout the pandemic? You might need an eye test

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - - Chautauqua County's Workplace of the County Clerk is advising people that they need to upgrade their vision status with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles if their license ended during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Particularly, individuals whose licenses expired in between March 1, 2020 and August 31, 2021 had the capability to self-certify their vision while restoring their driver's licenses online.

" If you have not yet sent the outcomes of a vision test to the DMV in Albany, you are in risk of having your driver's license suspended if you do not send the outcomes quickly," the Chautauqua County Clerk's office says.

What individuals can do is schedule a vision test at a DMV-approved service provider. As long as they pass, the company and the DMV will look after the rest. Vision tests can likewise occur at regional DMV workplaces.

Vision tests by non-approved service providers must be sent out to the DMV. Find the required form here.
