Skateboarding and snowboarding have rich histories in Alaska, with enthusiasts creating homemade rigs and backyard shreds that have evolved into a unique culture of creativity and innovation. The Anchorage Museum is now showcasing this dynamic culture in the Northern Boarders exhibit, featuring a diverse collection of photos, videos, decks, and boards from across the state.
Alex Taitt, a curator at the museum, shared insights into the inspiration behind the exhibit and the desire to shine a spotlight on a culture that is often underappreciated. The Northern Boarders exhibit is a celebration of the passion and dedication of Alaska's boarding community, running until February 25, 2025.
