Disneyland begins Star Wars Month with flights, food and motion picture nights

What started out at Disneyland as an unofficial yearly celebration on May the 4th of all things Star Wars has actually evolved into a month-long homage throughout May to the 1970s sci-fi impressive science fiction at the Anaheim theme park.

Star Wars Month will range from May 1 to June 4 in Galaxy's Edge, Tomorrowland, Downtown Disney and the Disneyland hotels.

The Monday, May 1 start date offers Disneyland a couple of days to absorb the preliminary crowds sure to turn out for the unofficial Star Wars Day on May 4-- as in May the Fourth be with you.

Hyperspace Mountain

The Hyperspace Mountain thematic overlay of the Space Mountain returns for a limited-time run starting on May 1 with a fleet of X-Wings, TIE fighters and Star Destroyers taking over the Tomorrowland indoor roller coaster.

The Star Wars-themed overlay of the Space Mountain coaster was first presented during the 2015 Season of the Force occasion. Scenes of X-Wings, Starfighters and even the Millennium Falcon flash on the interior walls of Space Mountain as riders race through the dark aboard the indoor coaster. The highlight: A TIE fighter that heads right for the rollercoaster train with an impact reminiscent of the boulder scene in the Indiana Jones Adventure.

Themed Food

Star Wars themed food and beverage items inspired by the cinematic galaxy far, far will be available in Galaxy's Edge beginning in early May-- consisting of Temple Rootleaf and Moss Salad (Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo), Five Blossom Bread (Oga's Cantina), Surabat Valley Sweet Kettle Corn Mix (Kat Saka's Kettle) and Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal (Milk Stand).

Outside the Star Wars themed land, you can also discover Darth by Chocolate Parfait (Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland), Grogu Candy Apple (Marceline's Confectionery in Downtown Disney) and Wookiee Cookies (Grand Californian Hotel).

Picture Ops

Fans aiming to snap Star Wars-inspired selfies will find a "Young Jedi Adventures" picture backdrop based on the new Disney Junior series near the Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney.

In Galaxy's Edge, Disney PhotoPass Lens can digitally add the BB-8 and BD-72 droids or custom Mandalorian helmet and armor to your Magic Shots images.

Film Nights


The Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel will reveal movies from the area legend during Star Wars Movie Nights on choose evenings in May.

Disneyland has not yet announced the movies, dates or locations for the "Star Wars" film screenings. Admission will be limited to hotel visitors.

Star Wars Nite


The Star Wars Nite after-hours occasions will operate on May 2, 4, 8 and 11 at Disneyland.

The separate admission occasions include specialty-themed home entertainment, character meet-and-greets, photo op backdrops, food and beverages, collectible product, celebratory mementos and unlimited PhotoPass digital downloads along with choose trips and shows.

Star Wars Nite consists of a "Celebrate the Nite" fireworks reveal set to symphonic scores from the movie franchise, a March of the First Order led by Captain Phasma in Tomorrowland, looks by Tusken Raiders and Jawas, lightsaber training and galactic churros.

The sold-out Disneyland After Dark events taking over Disneyland will use a host of Star Wars consumes and deals with including Mos Eisley Spaceport Cookies (Harbour Galley), Galactic Princess Sundae (Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor) and Harissa Tip-Yip Bowl (Red Rose Taverne).
