A Milwaukee woman is now facing multiple criminal charges after an incident where she allegedly struck a rideshare driver with her vehicle and fled the scene. The event unfolded on the city's northwest side earlier this week, sparking a police investigation.
According to court documents, the altercation began as a dispute between the suspect and the driver. Authorities state the woman became agitated before reportedly getting into her own car, reversing, and striking the driver. She then allegedly drove away without stopping to render aid or report the collision.
First responders transported the victim to a local hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries. Police, utilizing witness statements and area surveillance, were able to identify and locate a suspect vehicle.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office has formally charged the individual with multiple offenses. The felony charges include second-degree recklessly endangering safety and hit-and-run involving great bodily harm. A misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct was also filed in connection with the event.
The accused made her initial appearance in court. A cash bond was set, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for the coming weeks. If convicted on the felony charges, she could face significant prison time.
This case highlights the severe consequences of leaving the scene of an accident, especially when injuries are involved. An investigation by local law enforcement remains active.
