Erie County Fair trying to find skilled rivals

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - - Ribbons are awarded for more than just livestock at the Erie County Fair.

The fair is searching for people to share their talents, and they state there are more than 8,000 classifications to participate in, such as photography, drawing, garden, woodcarving and canning vegetables.

New competitions this year consist of tractor repair, craft cocktails and a ribbon revamp.

For the majority of the competitions, there's no residency requirement, however for some, such as the "house red wine" and "conservation" categories, they do.

In addition to cash prizes, champion ribbons are likewise up for grabs. Grownups can enter as numerous pieces as they want for $23, while kids 5-12 can get in for five dollars. Kids enter into the fair totally free, and adults who go into get free admission, too.

The deadline for the majority of competitions is July 14, with registration starting May 1. More details on going into a competition can be found here.
