The veteran musician, who temporarily filled in after the tragic loss of Taylor Hawkins, shared his raw emotions in a recent interview.
Freese stepped into the spotlight during one of rock's most challenging transitions, joining the Foo Fighters for their 2023 tour following Hawkins' untimely passing. His technical prowess and stage presence earned praise from fans worldwide.
"When Dave [Grohl] told me they were moving in another direction, it felt like the wind got knocked out of me," Freese admitted. "I knew my role was temporary, but I didn't expect it to end so abruptly."
Industry insiders suggest the band may be considering a permanent replacement, with rumors swirling about potential candidates. The Foo Fighters have remained tight-lipped about their future plans.
Freese maintains no ill will toward the band, stating, "I'll always cherish those months on the road. They helped me grieve Taylor in my own way."
