CHESTERLAND, Ohio - - A previous Chester Township policeman accused of sexual conduct with a teen woman while on duty has been prosecuted by a Lake County grand jury.

Nick Iacampo was arrested on a sexual battery charge in August, just hours after the father of the woman filed a problem with authorities, the BNN I-Team reported.

" He has actually been messing around with my child," the daddy is heard stating on a recording of a call gotten by the I-Team. " He was just captured by a next-door neighbor and my kid."

Lake County district attorneys dismissed that initial charge due to modifications in the particular statute with which Iacampo was charged, "the criminal investigation continued," checks out a Monday news release from Chester Township Police Chief Craig Young.

The case was presented Friday to a Lake County grand jury comprised of Geauga County citizens, which handed up an indictment charging Iacampo with a third-degree felony count of sexual battery and a first-degree misdemeanor count of adding to the unruliness or delinquency of a kid, according to the release.

Young provided a statement Monday that reads, in part:

Nobody is above the law and our workers are held to strict requirements of conduct to ensure faithful service and defense; our community should have absolutely nothing less. The current examination involving the reported misbehavior of a former officer in no other way shows any kind of accepted habits by this office; the members of this organization find this reported behavior dreadful.

Iacampo was not terminated, however rather, he resigned. He may have appealed a termination and potentially been restored, "resignations are last," Young said.
