Fort Bend County has installed advanced flood detection cameras to monitor rising water levels and provide early warnings to residents. The system aims to reduce risks during severe weather events by offering real-time updates.
The county has placed high-resolution cameras in flood-prone areas, connected to a monitoring network. These devices analyze water levels and movement, sending alerts to emergency services and residents via text or app notifications.
Officials say the system improves response times during emergencies, allowing residents to evacuate or take precautions sooner. The technology also assists first responders in identifying the most critical areas.
"This is about saving lives and minimizing property damage," a county spokesperson told BNN. "Early warnings can make all the difference."
If successful, the program may expand to additional locations. County leaders are also exploring integration with weather forecasting systems for more precise alerts.
