FRESNO, Calif. (BNN)--
Fresno City College is assisting trainees be successful by providing additional assistance.
The Adult Education Program deals with trainees to finish their education and accomplish their career objectives.
Fresno City College student Brandon Marroquin has just recently kick-started his career in Information Technology.
He'& #x 27; s currently working at the State Center Community College District through the student work program.
"" I do helpdesk, I do cyber security. I repair computers,"" Marroquin stated.
He'& #x 27; s come a long way to get here.
Marroquin says he had a hard time in high school due to ADHD and speech apraxia, so he dropped out.
In 2021, he chose to go back and get his GED.
He graduated this spring and began classes at
Fresno City College this fall with the assistance of the Adult Education Program.
"" So I'& #x 27; m truly grateful for this programs here,"" Marroquin said.
Lisa Vincent is the Adult Education Program planner at FCC.
It uses classes, resources and support for students who never ever finished high school, have gone to or are currently going to an adult school and those thinking about English as second language classes.
Vincent and her staff are there to help see those students through the process.
"" We'& #x 27; re outreaching, were onboarding and we'& #x 27; re transitioning those students into neighborhood college and career paths,"" Vincent said.
Those trainees work with a designated Adult Education therapist like Eric Morin.
He leads trainees step by step through the resources, application procedure and any other aid they need.
"" They might have left school for a number factors, and we just don'& #x 27; t desire self-confidence or lack of assistance to be a reason that they don'& #x 27; t return and are not successful,"" Morin said.
The effort occurring in their program isn'& #x 27; t going unnoticed.
It was recently called as a design Adult Ed program in the state.
Last month, Vincent and her group were recognized at the California Adult Education Program Summit.
"" The reality that we'& #x 27; re being observed for our efforts is necessary since, I'& #x 27; m informing you, we put in the work here. We do,"" Vincent stated.
