FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - -
Fayetteville cops stated Saturday that a guy was captured and charged in a violent kidnapping of a mom and her baby in broad daylight Friday.
The event was reported as shooting around 12:20 p.m. Friday in the area of Second Street and Lynn Avenue, according to a news release from the
Fayetteville Police Department.
Witnesses told cops that a guy fired gunshots while in a run-in with a lady. The lady and her child were then repelled in a small dark-color SUV, cops stated.
Female found safe; Fayetteville authorities investigating possible abduction
The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was later on discovered safe in Surf City with her child on Friday afternoon, cops said. Officers later exposed the female's child was also abducted in the event.
Damien Antwon Evans Jr., 21, was in a domestic relationship with the victim at the time of the occurrence, according to cops.
He was charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, attack with a deadly weapon, assault with a fatal weapon with a small present, interacting threats, and hindering 911 interactions, cops stated Saturday.

Cops said the gun involved was fired into the air "as an intimidation technique to guarantee the victim entered the car with the culprit." The female was not hurt.
"The victim remains in the process of being reunited with her enjoyed ones," cops stated.
