MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)-- A male fell to his death from a hot-air balloon Monday as it passed over suburban Melbourne, Australia's second-largest city.
The hot-air balloon took off from Melbourne's northern residential areas early in the early morning and was in the air for about 30 minutes before the guy fell from the basket.
His body was discovered in a house that Victoria state authorities blocked to traffic. The balloon landed securely numerous miles from where the guy's body was discovered.
Police said it will prepare a report for the death and the coroner is not being treated as suspicious. Cops are also speaking to the balloon's pilot, other occupants and witnesses.
The National Commercial Hot-Air Ballooning Industry and the Australian Ballooning Federation expressed condolences for the guy's family and friends.
