YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - - A guy jailed on a parole violation for having what prosecutors said was a sexual relationship with a teenager was approved in federal court.
In a Contempt of Court Status conference on Tuesday, Court records reveal 36-year-old Brandon Turjonis breached a May 16, 2024, no-contact order with the teen.
Not only did he violate the order, according to prosecutors, however he got in touch with the woman over 100 times by phone and attempted to call her 232 times from the Mahoning County Jail, where he has been held since his May 6 arrest. The calls happened in between May 16 and June 24, according to court records.
Turjonis admitted to the violation, according to court records, and was ordered to spend six months in federal jail for the violation. That sentence will not begin up until state charges are submitted in the teen sex case. Right now, he is charged with a parole offense.
The judge ruled that the state has 30 days to submit charges against Turjonis in the sex case. The examination is ongoing into the claims of a sexual relationship with the teen. Investigators think Turjonis began a relationship with the woman in spite of cautions from his parole officer.
The judge also bought that Turjonis' phone and any other interaction gadget and benefits at the Mahoning County Jail be withdrawed up until July 5.
Male turned off cop and got charged. Now what?
A status conference is set for Aug. 8.
Turjonis was initially convicted of a weapons charge. In 2020, police detained him after a standoff on Youngstown's South Side. He was sentenced to just under 4 years in federal prison but got credit for the time he had actually served prior to the sentencing and was eventually released on parole.
