Health department reports flu spread is magnifying, three deaths considering that October


The Arkansas Department of Health announced another flu-related death in its weekly disease report, the third death given that Oct. 1. The report also kept in mind an increase in flu infect the "moderate" level, up from the previous week's "low.".

The health reports lag behind a week, indicating the most recent information addresses health problems reported from Nov. 5-Nov. Throughout that period, the ADH reported 120 favorable flu cases and 10 hospitalizations.

The 2023-2024 flu season is already looking much different than last season. By this time last year, the health department had reported 14 deaths and more than 7,000 positive illnesses. A portion of that-- 506 cases-- have been reported this season.

Based upon maps in the health department's report, existing flu strength in Arkansas is similar to the spread elsewhere in the country. Southern states like Louisiana, Georgia and Florida are revealing indications of more intense spread.
