Animal Tracks Expands: Exciting New Programs and Volunteer Opportunities Await!
Wildlife Enthusiasts Rejoice – Animal Tracks Unveils Bold Initiatives
Santa Clarita’s beloved wildlife education center, Animal Tracks, is gearing up for an exciting new chapter. The organization recently announced ambitious plans to expand its programming, offering fresh ways for the community to connect with nature while creating urgent demand for passionate volunteers.
What’s Coming to Animal Tracks?
- Nocturnal Wildlife Series: Rare evening programs featuring owls, bats, and other creatures of the night
- Junior Wildlife Ambassador Program: Hands-on training for teens interested in animal care and conservation
- Mobile Education Unit: Bringing animal encounters to schools, libraries, and community events
- Senior Wildlife Connections: Specially designed therapeutic animal interactions for older adults
Why Volunteers Are the Heartbeat of This Expansion
"We couldn’t do this without our volunteers," explains Animal Tracks Director Marcie Dekker. "From animal care to guest services to program development, every role directly impacts our ability to serve the community and protect wildlife."
The organization seeks individuals for various positions:
- Animal care assistants (training provided)
- Educational program facilitators
- Event coordination specialists
- Grant writing and fundraising support
How to Get Involved
Prospective volunteers can attend orientation sessions held every second Saturday of the month. The next session coincides with Animal Track’s popular "Wildlife Weekend" event on June 8th, where attendees can tour the facility and meet current volunteers.
What Do You Think?
- Should wildlife centers prioritize education over rehabilitation?
- Is hands-on animal interaction appropriate for all ages?
- Would you volunteer if it meant working with potentially dangerous animals?
- Do zoos and wildlife centers do enough for conservation?
