Home Depot worker presumably embezzled $1.2 M in money



( KRON) - - A San Rafael, California Home Depot staff member was apprehended after the home improvement store alleged she embezzled around $1.2 million over the previous year, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

Home Depot reported the incident to cops on Oct. 17 after an internal examination exposed the female worker presumably began taking cash from the retailer starting in August 2022.

At the time of arrest, authorities stated the worker had over $8,000 in her possession.

A search warrant served at the worker's home discovered a percentage of cash and a "high volume" of designer merchandise, which police detectives think was purchased with the embezzled funds.

Police stated the staff member admitted to taking cash from the business because last year.

The worker was booked into Marin County Jail on felony embezzlement charges. Detectives added a bail improvement due to the amount of cash apparently taken and concern of the suspect being a flight threat.
