CLEVELAND (BNN) - - The BNN I-Team has discovered an alert system at
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport that's been chronically out of service is now repaired.
This comes days after a little plane ignited after landing.
The Hopkins airport crash phone has been fixed. The crash phone functions as a method for the control tower to call airport firemens without dialing.
We reported in 2015 the system often did not work. We later discovered complaints and technical issues dating back to 2022.
Recently, the Federal Aviation Administration bought the airport to fix the system, and the FAA states that has actually been done.
In the meantime, body video camera video from the Ohio State Highway Patrol gives us a close take a look at the damage from the plane that just caught on fire.
It occurred late Saturday afternoon.
You hear a trooper radio in, "We're out here with the airplane crash and ... CPD (
Cleveland Police) and Airport Fire… … "
You see the trooper taking pictures with a little airplane tilted nose-down with fire damage.

Nobody suffered any severe injuries, however that incident caused a temporary halt of all air traffic at Hopkins.
Worrying the crash phone, the FAA launched a declaration. It said:
"
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport set up, tested, and put into service a new crash phone system in March 2024."
