A fast-moving fire tore through a residential home in northwest Harris County late last night, sending flames roaring into the sky and drawing a massive emergency response. Neighbors reported hearing loud explosions before thick smoke billowed from the structure, forcing nearby residents to evacuate as firefighters battled the blaze.
Firefighters from multiple stations, including Cypress Creek and Harris County ESD 48, rushed to the scene. The intensity of the flames required over two hours to fully extinguish. Authorities are now investigating potential causes, including:
"I heard what sounded like fireworks, then saw the sky light up," said resident Mark Thompson. Another neighbor, Lisa Nguyen, described the scene as "terrifying," adding, "We grabbed our kids and ran outside—it happened so fast."
With the home reduced to rubble, investigators will comb through debris for evidence. Fire marshals urge anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, displaced residents are receiving aid from the Red Cross.
