Jacklyn Zeman, nurse Bobbie Spencer on 'General Healthcare facility,' passes away at 70

LOS ANGELES-- Funeral arrangements were pending Thursday for actress Jacklyn Zeman, who represented nurse Barbara "Bobbie" Spencer for decades on ABC's long-running soap opera "General Medical facility."

Spencer died at the age of 70, the program's manufacturers announced Wednesday night.

" On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I am sad to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman," executive producer Frank Valentini tweeted. "Just like her character, the famous Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and real expert that brought so much positive energy with her to work.

" Jackie will be significantly missed out on, however her favorable spirit will always reside on with our cast and team," Valentini included. "We send our sincere sympathy to her loved ones, pals, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey."

No even more details about her death were announced.

" I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of the gifted and precious actress, @JackieZeman," star John Stamos tweeted. "I remember the wonderful times we spent collaborating on General Hospital. Her warm personality and contagious energy constantly brightened my day. Jackie will forever hold a special location in my heart, and her memory will continue to influence me. XO."

in 1977, after playing another character on ABC's popular daytime soap" One Life to Live" in 1976 and 1977. She appeared in numerous hundred" General Hospital" episodes for many years, regularly up until 2010 and on a recurring basis recently. The program is taped in Los Angeles.

" Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the ‘‘ General Hospital' and ABC family because she stemmed the renowned role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years back," the program's official Twitter account published. "She leaves behind a long lasting tradition for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad woman turned heroine and will constantly be remembered for her kind heart and glowing spirit.".

Zeman herself tweeted a video message on April 5 thanking fans for their support as "General Hospital" celebrated its 60th anniversary.
