If you're an artist looking for an incredible platform to showcase your talent, look no further! The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is thrilled to announce its 4th Annual Members’ Juried Art Show (MJAS), where local artists can shine in a professional museum setting. This exhibition promises to celebrate and highlight the diverse artistry within our community—so mark your calendars!

Event Details

The MJAS will run from October 5, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This year's exhibition, supported by the Rotary Club of Edinburg, aims to foster community development and artistic expression. Whether you're a budding artist or an established creator, this is your chance to be part of something special.

Why Participate?

  • Exclusive Opportunity: This exhibition is exclusive to IMAS members, offering a prestigious platform to display your artwork.
  • Highlight Your Talent: It’s a unique chance to spotlight your creativity in one of the region’s most respected art institutions.
  • Guaranteed Display: Submit up to two pieces of art, with a guarantee that at least one will be featured in the show.

The selected artworks will be judged by an esteemed independent juror, Jon Joanis, who will also award prizes for Best of Show, Second Place, Third Place, and three Honorable Mentions—each with a monetary award!

How to Participate

To take part in this exciting exhibition, artists must be current IMAS members. Memberships are available for purchase or renewal right up until the artwork submission date. Benefits of IMAS membership include:

  • Free admission to the museum
  • Discounts on events and classes
  • Access to exclusive exhibitions like MJAS

Interested artists can find the MJAS application on the IMAS website. Make sure to submit your artwork during the following drop-off dates:

  • Friday, Sept. 20: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 21: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Notification of Declined Artwork: 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25
  • Opening Reception: 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5
  • Artwork Pick-up: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 10 and 11
  • Uncollected Artwork Disposal: 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025

Location and Hours

IMAS is located at 1900 W. Nolana in McAllen, at the intersection of Bicentennial Way and Nolana Avenue. The museum operates:

  • Wednesday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
