KC Current, Port KC release master plan for Berkley Riverfront advancement task


KANSAS CITY, Mo. - - The Kansas City Current and Port KC on Monday released its master plan for the future development of Berkley Riverfront.

Port KC said the strategy reconnects Kansas City to its roots on the Missouri River.

The $800 million development job was announced in July 2023.

The job will consist of workplace, retail and residential space and will be built in phases over 10 years. The proposed 2 million square feet of advancement will consist of approximately 1,000 multifamily property systems, with 10% of those being at 50% of the area mean earnings.

The new development will lie between the brand-new KC Current Stadium and the upcoming Origin Hotel; it will also be bordered by Berkley Riverfront Drive to the north and Berkley Parkway to the south.

" Berkley Riverfront will be a tradition task for Kansas City, and Port KC is dedicated to seeing the complete vision come to life," Port KC CEO & & President Jon Stephens stated. "We were entrusted with bringing the Missouri Riverfront back into the historic and economic fold for Kansas City. When the KC Current masterplan is finished, Kansas Citians will have a brand-new chance to reintroduce themselves to one of the most natural and important pieces of our history and our future."

Phase among the advancement is expected to start at the end of 2024 and will be completed by the FIFA World Cup in 2026, according to Port KC.

Port KC stated the KCATA Streetcar building and construction must also finish up by early 2026.

"With the next phase of our financial investment in Berkley Riverfront Park, our goal is to reconnect Kansas Citians to their riverfront, bringing a lot more energy and activity to the water. We believe this fundamental financial investment will benefit our community for years to come and cement the Berkley Riverfront as one of Kansas City's excellent communities for visitors and homeowners alike," said Angie Long, co-founder and co-owner of the KC Current.

This task is anchored by the KC Current's historic CPKC Stadium and signs up with other upcoming jobs like the Two Birds, One Stone Beer Garden and the Origin Hotel which are anticipated to open this summertime.
