Live: 1 eliminated in I-90 crash in Wickliffe, westbound lanes closed

WICKLIFFE, Ohio (BNN)-- Police are investigating after a deadly crash along I-90 in Wickliffe Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Wickliffe Police Department, officers were called to I-90 westbound near Bishop Road for a crash involving a Subaru SUV and a dump truck simply after 1:30 p.m.

Investigators state the Subaru motorist, traveling in the eastbound lanes, crossed over the mean into the westbound lanes and was struck by an approaching dump truck.

The Subaru driver, an 87-year-old male, was discovered unresponsive. He was required to University Hospitals Lake West Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The dump truck motorist wasn't hurt.

The crash stays under investigation at this time.

I-90 westbound is closed at Bishop Road, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Traffic is being diverted off the highway, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
