Two local under-18 soccer teams made history this weekend by clinching first and second place at the prestigious National Cup, marking a milestone for the region’s youth athletics.
The squads, composed of players aged 16–18, competed against over 50 teams from across the country. The championship match ended in a thrilling 2-1 victory, while the runner-up team secured their spot after a penalty shootout in the semifinals.
Fans gathered at the hometown airport to welcome the athletes back, waving signs and cheering as the teams disembarked with their trophies. “This is a testament to the talent and hard work of our players,” said one coach. “They’ve trained relentlessly for this moment.”
Both teams have qualified for next year’s international tournament, where they will represent the nation against top youth clubs from Europe and South America.
