Lubbock, Don't Fall For The "Sofia" Street-Corner Scam

Lubbock, Don't Fall For The "Sofia" Street-Corner Scam

I recently found a woman near the intersection of 82nd & & University holding a vibrant posterboard with a picture of an ill baby on it, gathering donations to help repair the baby''s heart malformation.
Did you feel a pang of sympathy for the lady and the infant? Congratulations, you are a regular human. I require you to reassess before you hand over your money.
To me, she looked A LOT like the same girl, and the exact same newborn baby I saw gathering contributions in 2015. They were in San Antonio a couple of months back, too.
unsplash/ canvaloading ... The reason the infant hasn't grown at all in a year? Because "" Sophia"" is a widely known rip-off that cops departments have actually been warning people about. & #xA 0; It appears that a couple of individuals circumnavigate gathering contributions for "" Sophia"" but are just swiping the cash on their own.
Think of controling sympathetic and kind individuals into turning over their cash. Oh, and if you don't have cash, they''ll take your Cash App, too. Anything to part you and your money after they make a fool out of you.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's OfficePalm Beach County Sheriff's Officeloading ... Instead of donating to these street corner rip-offs, might I suggest donating to a respectable charity? Here''s a couple of ideas:
St. Jude''s Children''s Hospital & #xA 0; is a four-star rated charity for "monetary performance, sustainability and trustworthiness."" St. Judes treats kids with cancer at no cost to their shares and families their research honestly.
Ronald McDonald House is also a four-star rated charity. They provide comfortable neighboring accommodations for households when their children are hospitalized for an extended time.
CASA, again, a four-star charity, trains offer court-appointed advocates for kids navigating the foster care system. These supporters help susceptible children discover caring, permanently homes and it''s essential work.
Four-star rated Shriner''s & #xA 0; charities fund, "" ingenious pediatric specialty care, world-class research study, and impressive medical education."".
And last but not least, yet another 4-star rated charity, the Lion''s Club does everything, "" from assisting in health screenings and feeding the hungry to tidying up local parks and assisting rebuild communities after catastrophe."".
