A devastating car accident in northern Italy has claimed the life of Vivian Spohr, wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr. The incident occurred on a winding mountain road near Lake Como, according to local authorities.
The collision involved a head-on crash between two vehicles. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but Ms. Spohr succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle survived with non-life-threatening wounds.
The aviation community has expressed shock at the news. A BNN aviation analyst noted: "This tragedy sends ripples through the European airline industry where the Spohrs are well-respected figures."
Italian police are reconstructing the accident to determine the exact cause. Early reports suggest neither excessive speed nor alcohol were factors, but technical issues with one vehicle may have contributed.
