Man arrested after six-hour SWAT standoff in North County


POWAY, Calif. - - A run-in between roommates turned violent in Poway Saturday afternoon, authorities stated.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, a call came in around 1:30 p.m. with a private reporting that his roommate had actually attacked him with a box cutter. The victim suffered abrasions throughout the run-in.

Deputies with the Poway Sheriff's Station responded to the residence, which lay in the 13000 block of York Avenue. Once on scene, authorities tried to de-escalate the scenario, while attempting to convince the suspect to come out of the house and surrender peacefully. Regardless of those efforts, authorities stated the man declined to exit the home.

An aerial support helicopter was called in to help deputies keep an eye on the situation overhead, the department explained. The constable's Crisis Negotiation Team, the Special Enforcement Detail and deputy K-9 handlers also got here on scene.

Around six hours later, just after 8 p.m., the suspect, recognized as 32-year-old Travis Bradley Miller, was taken into custody without out event. He was scheduled into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony charges, consisting of attack with a fatal weapon and breaching the conditions of his probation.
