Mild Tuesday, winter returns Wednesday

1 hour earlier

Rusty Dawkins,

We’& rsquo; re in for another mild day, then winter returns for a number of days. Highs will struggle Wednesday, Thursday and Friday prior to warming back up for the weekend

Rain and snow will be possible on Wednesday with another chance for some light snow on Friday. See all the forecast details in the video forecast above!

A peaceful and mild Tuesday is headed our way.

We’& rsquo; ll begin the day off in the center 20s and top out around 50 degrees. That’& rsquo; s a great 7 degrees above average.

We’& rsquo; re really above average for snowfall in Lincoln since February 20th.

Above is a look at how we have done over the last numerous years for snow in February.

There is an opportunity for snow late Tuesday into Wednesday for much of the state, but the much better opportunity is in north central and NW Nebraska.

SE Nebraska will have a possibility at rain mixing in, which will restrict the snow capacity.

Due to the fact that of the heavier snowfall potential to our north and NW, there are Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Storm Watches in place.

The snow starts up late Tuesday and lasts through Wednesday. Some of it might linger into early Thursday.

Snowfall capacity is highest in north main and NW Nebraska where over a foot is possible. SE Nebraska might not even see an inch, however rain is more possible.

Everybody else will remain in the middle with more snow the more north you go.

The wind will be an issue, too. It will begin to gust out of the north at 15 to 30+ miles per hour Wednesday, so blowing snow will make travel difficult.

We still have a couple of days to tweak this projection, so please inspect back often for updates!
