New UTA dorm will deal with growing need for student housing

The University of Texas at Arlington is making progress on building and construction of its largest and highest dorm, Maverick Hall. With its 654 beds, the new dorm will deal with the important requirement for more campus housing as the university's enrollment boosts.

" This construction task comes at a critical time," stated UTA President Jennifer Cowley. "Our real estate fills every single year, and with 7 years of record-breaking enrollment for new first-time-in-college students, we're rupturing at the seams.

In fall 2023, UTA registered nearly 5,000 trainees who were participating in college for the very first time, a boost of 8% from the year before. The university approximates that 10,000 trainees live on or near school. The university's dormitory have a nearly complete-- 99.4%-- occupancy rate.

With the 206,000-square-foot dormitory, university authorities wish to produce more shared experiences for students. The dorm will have a mix of suites and spaces, study areas, innovative innovation, centralized event areas and open kitchens on each flooring.

Radical Hall will be the first brand-new student housing on school considering that surrounding West Hall opened in 2018. It will be at the corner of UTA Boulevard and Kerby Street. The dorm is expected to be complete by fall 2025.
